Samento is a liquid extract made from a rare, pentacyclic chemotype ofUncaria tomentosa, a woody vine from the Peruvian jungle also known as Cat’s Claw and Uña de Gato.
Within the same plant species, different chemotypes may occur. Cat’s Claw most commonly contains both Pentacyclic Oxindole Alkaloids (POAs) and Tetracyclic Oxindole Alkaloids (TOAs). Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed journals suggest that the preferred chemotype contains only POA’s, which are often recognized for promoting a balanced immune system.
In 2000, NutraMedix introduced Samento, a rare chemotype of Cat’s Claw that does not contain TOAs and only contains POAs.
